Singapore will launch a $30 million International Co-Production Fund to encourage and empower local media companies to co-produce with international collaborators. Senior Minister of State for Communications and Information Tan Kiat How also announced that more money will be invested in the development and financing of virtual productions. Tan Kiat How made the announcement yesterday at the opening speech of the Asian TV Forum and Market (ATF).

The fund, which can be used for international collaborations in creative roles such as producers, directors and screenwriters, is open to media companies in Singapore with a history of producing long-form content. Companies wishing to benefit from the fund can submit their proposals to the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) until 31 January.

IMDA, which organises the Singapore Media Festival every year, is a statutory body under Singapore’s Ministry of Communications and Information, and ATF is an event held as part of the Singapore Media Festival.

VIRTUAL PRODUCTION INNOVATION FUND

In addition, $25 million will be invested in the Virtual Production Innovation Fund over the next three years. The fund was first announced at the ATF in 2022, with a tranche of $5 million to encourage media companies there to experiment with virtual production.
